Careful! These Kids Are Quick!

You know those signs that read, “SLOW CHILDREN AT PLAY?” I’ve often found myself wondering why such slow children are allowed to play in the street!

Today though, while out and about, I passed kind of a rundown trailer court, and I found a very different sign. “10 MPH CHILDREN AT PLAY!” I can understand why you would need to be careful. Children moving at 10 mph could easily run out in front of you before you see them.  By the way, 10 mph works out to a 6-minute mile.  Impressive. Very impressive.  wink

Woot Shirts!

This isn’t exactly photography related, but a friend of mine told me about this hilarious web site called Woot where you can find extremely creative and hilarious T-shirts. Not to mention, a snarky and hilarious wit! But move fast, because they sell one shirt each day, and each shirt for one day only! Here is the one I just snagged today!

Although we missed this one, my friend and I both thought this one was hilarious as well.  smile

Uriah and Ashley Engagement: Part 1

Perhaps one day I’ll be able to do a whole engagement shoot in 1 post. If only the North Dakota weather would cooperate with me! The weather refused to cooperate with us, and so we rescheduled another hour for next week. Until then, we have Uriah and Ashley’s engagement pictures - Part 1!  I am really pleased with these, and Uriah and Ashley liked them too! Thanks guys!  smile

My personal favorite from the shoot!

Casey and Linsey Engagement: Part 4

Yes, that’s right! Casey and Linsey are back again! smile

We always intended to get back together for a couple more formal shots.  I think these turned out nicely! I went into this shoot with black and white on the brain, so I tried to shoot them in such a way as to get a nice black and white shot, and I’m pretty happy with what we got! We also did a couple pictures for a potential newspaper announcement.

Casey and Linsey are getting married on May 17th! I won’t be their photographer for their wedding (being I am in it!), but I’ll be sure to have a few shots of my own from it!

Casey asks Linsey to dance, but she rejects him!

Of course she’s just playing!  grin

Casey always picks Linsey up at some point!

Paul Kremer Photography Wins an Award!

OK, maybe the title was misleading, it isn’t a photography award! smile

I subscribe to several photographers’ blogs because I love to see what other photographers are up to and to get inspiration for my own photography. Sometimes I’ll comment if I see a picture I really like.  It just so happens that on my last visit to the Perez Photography Blog based out of Dallas, Texas, the comment I left was their 1000th comment! I know that when my blog gets to that point I’ll be excited too, and they are thanking me by giving me a free I-tunes gift card! They did mistakenly believe that I was in Canada, but I think their tracking software probably told them that, eh? hehe!

Maybe one day I will win an award for my photography skills, but this is a nice award in the meantime. You can look at the post here. smile

The Jore Family

Well, my last post was about my new lens. Of course, I had to play with this lens and learn some tricks in using it! The Jore’s new dog, Rowdy, seemed a good candidate for some test shots.  We went walking in a local park along the river, and it turned into an impromptu mini-shoot. I did learn some important things about my new lens, and had a lot of fun walking! Here are some shots I got:

I really like this next one. Rowdy is such a young puppy that everything is new for him. I feel like this shot is you watching him discover something for the first time.

These next 2 are probably my favorite shots of the entire evening.

On our way back. It was SO muddy! We couldn’t even believe it, the mud just caked on our shoes.

Poor Rowdy got so muddy he needed a bath in the sink. He looks nice clean, but he really hates getting a bath. While some dogs will growl, poor Rowdy just looks pitiful! smile

Equipment Update : Pentax SMCP-FA 50mm f/1.4 Lens

I got a new lens today in preparation for a photo shoot I have coming up on Monday, weather permitting. It is a Pentax SMCP-FA 50mm f/1.4 Lens.

I was very excited to get this new lens and play with it, so I called a few friends who have just gotten a new puppy. They were happy to let me snap some shots! What I am loving about this lens is it super wide aperture. Compared to my other lens, the opening is enormous! It is allowing me to take better shots inside even without flash. Also, because it lets in so much light, its depth of field is razor sharp, making what is in focus crystal clear, and offering a nice soft blur effect to what is not in focus. Here are a couple shots I got with my new lens!
